Tai Chi Testing

Tai Chi Testing August 29th, 2014

Every February and August, Master Joe hosts a giant testing event for all of the upper level students. Grandmaster Sin The' comes to visit and we all perform our material in front of him and get real nervous! It is a true test of your mettle to perform to the best of your ability with the Grandmaster watching your every move.

Lately, we have been testing for Brown and Black Belt levels of Kung Fu on Thursday evening, and for upper levels of Tai Chi on Friday. This helps ensure that we aren't testing until midnight or later.

We all have a great time testing together and hanging out afterwards. It is just as much of a social event as anything, and I attend every time whether I am testing or not. I love watching students that I helped teach show up and shine out on the kwoon floor. It's a great feeling to know that I had a little something to do with that.

This time around, I tested for 3rd Black Sash in Tai Chi. This photo with Grandmaster and Master Joe is just after I passed and the testing was concluded.

The journey is never over. In fact, it has just begun again. I have a ton more material to learn and many years before my next test. Until then, I just Shaolin-On...
